The exhaust system of a gas engine has a high temperature, and its fuel is flammable and explosive, posing significant risks. If not taken seriously, it may lead to disasters. Therefore, when using gas engines in the computer room, users should not only comply with the following safety regulations, but also develop safety operating procedures based on specific circumstances and strictly follow them.
 
Requirements for Gas-fired power plant room
 
The computer room generally adopts an open or semi open type, and should use a non sparking ground. The ground should be flat and easy to clean.
If a closed computer room is used, it should be designed according to the explosion-proof requirements in the "Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings" (TJ16-74). It must be a single-story building, with all doors and windows open outwards, and equipped with a large flow exhaust device to prevent the accumulation of combustible gas volume.
The computer room and the operation room should be separated and not directly connected. The observation window should be double glazed and protected by steel wire mesh.
The computer room should be equipped with lightning protection devices.
There must be no open flames on the operating site of the unit, and there must be obvious warning signs such as "No Smoking or Fireworks".
Equipped with sufficient firefighting equipment.
The exhaust gas from the engine exhaust system is mixed with combustible gases, and an exhaust pipe system led from the engine to the outdoor should be designed and installed. The exhaust pipe system should be connected reliably.
 
Equipment requirements of Gas-fired power plant unit
The electrical facilities in the computer room should be explosion-proof, and the power supply must be cut off when conducting electrical maintenance.
At the entrance of the gas pipeline into the machine room, an emergency valve should be installed to quickly cut off the gas source in case of an emergency in the factory. This valve should be located close to the operating room.
Gas concentration alarms should be installed in the machine room, with two installed at the opposite corners of the machine room. When the environmental concentration is within the range of explosion and poisoning concentration, forced ventilation must be provided to reduce the concentration before starting the unit.
 
Requirements for gas pipeline of Gas-fired power plant unit
Gas pipelines should be made of steel pipes, and the pipe wall should not be too thin. The joints should be sealed reliably. After the gas pipeline connection is completed, use a gas detector or soapy water to detect pipeline leakage, especially at the joints of flanges, valves, etc.
The valve shall be checked regularly, and there shall be no Gas leak, damage, etc., and there shall be no accumulation around the valve that hinders the valve operation. The valve shall be opened and closed regularly and maintained. The valve that cannot be opened and closed or is not closed tightly shall be repaired or replaced in time.
The rubber hoses on the gas pipeline should be replaced regularly, and it is strictly prohibited to use expired and aged rubber hoses.

When operating, maintaining, and repairing the unit and gas pipeline, it is necessary to reliably cut off the gas source and exhaust the internal gas. Before identifying the cause of the accident and taking necessary safety measures, gas supply to the gas facilities cannot be restored. When carrying out maintenance and repair, explosion-proof measures should be taken or explosion-proof tools should be used. It is strictly prohibited to use tools such as iron tools for knocking operations.
The emergency repair of Gas leak shall be carried out after cutting off the gas source. When the leakage has burned, measures shall be taken to control the fire before cutting off the gas source. Negative pressure in the pipeline is strictly prohibited.
 
Pre startup inspection requirements of Gas-fired power plant unit
Before driving, the following checks must be carried out item by item and confirmed to be correct before driving is allowed.
 
Gas pipeline system
The sealing gasket must be installed at the interface between the gas source pipeline and the gas engine inlet to ensure reliable fastening, and the emergency manual shutdown valve function should be reliable.
The threaded connection of the gas pipeline must be wrapped with sealing tape, and the welding area must not have air holes.
Check if there is any air leakage in the pipeline in the computer room. If there is any leakage, it must be dealt with before starting the machine.
Installation of gas components
The radial clearance between the mixer flange and the butterfly valve journal must not leak.
The connection of solenoid valves and pressure regulating valves should not be loose or leak air.
The fusible and explosive diaphragms of each explosion-proof device must be installed in accordance with the technical design requirements, and materials cannot be changed or thickened arbitrarily.
The connection between the generator, control panel, and cable connector must be tight and reliable.
Sensor and control screen combination simulation detection
 
Oil pressure detection: For the prime mover equipped with a pressure relay, use a pressure calibrator to detect the set value and check whether the control screen is open and shut down. The prime mover equipped with a monitor first performs a self check, and then removes the signal input line to check whether the control screen is open and shut down.
Oil temperature and water temperature detection: Connect the simulated detected sensor to the sensor wire, place the sensor on the exhaust pipe for heating, and detect whether it is shut down at the set value.
 
Check if the emergency valve and solenoid valve of the air source are reliable.
Reduce the load, close the breaker switch, set the speed switch to the rated speed position, then adjust the rated speed Potentiometer of the 2301A speed controller, slowly rotate clockwise until the unit is at the set value for alarm opening and overspeed shutdown, and then reset the rated speed Potentiometer counterclockwise to the original position.

Before starting the machine, debris (such as turning bars, tools, screws, etc.) placed on the unit (especially rotating parts) should be removed to prevent workpieces from flying out and injuring people during driving.
 
When manually turning the machine before starting, be sure to disconnect the starting power first to avoid accidentally touching the start button and causing the turning lever to fly out and injure people.
 
Operation requirements of Gas-fired power plant unit
When starting, first step on the foot switch, press the start button, empty the gas in the cylinder, and then open the gas valve. It is strictly prohibited to supply gas before pressing the start button. If the start is unsuccessful or if the engine shuts down after starting, the gas valve should be immediately closed, the cause should be investigated, and the mixed gas in the cylinder should be discharged before restarting according to the prescribed procedure. After successful startup, the foot switch should be kicked off immediately.
 
When starting the machine, open the doors and windows, activate the exhaust device, and wait until the machine stop
When operating in the computer room, operators should wear safety helmets or helmets. During machine operation, they should not directly face the explosion-proof door, avoid high-speed rotating parts such as flywheels, and should not touch high-temperature parts such as exhaust pipes.
 
During operation, if any gas leakage is found, the operator should immediately unload the load and stop the machine for inspection
When the unit is running, pay attention to the explosion-proof safety door of the gas engine. Once the explosion occurs (with a loud sound), the gas source should be immediately turned off, and the explosion-proof rubber should be replaced before restarting.
 
Safety measures to be taken for unit shutdown
During normal shutdown, the unit should be allowed to idle until the water temperature and oil temperature drop below 60 ℃ before cutting off the air source and shutting down.
After emergency shutdown, immediately "turn the engine and pump oil" until the water temperature and oil temperature drop below 60 ℃, and then cut off the air source and shut down.
After shutdown, the "solenoid valve power" switch should be placed in the "OFF" position and the main gas valve should be closed.
